An accidental gunshot damaged a house near SW 29th and West Sumner around 6:30 Wednesday night.  LPD Public Information Officer Erika Thomas says a man told police he was downstairs when he heard a loud noise.

“Upon coming upstairs, he discovered a hole in his kitchen wall and cabinet along with a bullet,” Thomas says. “The officer contacted the 34-year-old neighbor who said he was putting away his .45 caliber handgun when he accidentally dropped the gun causing it to fire.”

Damage to the home is estimated at $200. The neighbor was cited for unlawful discharge of a firearm. There were no injuries.
