The Mulberry Nursing home in Waverly was evacuated Monday morning after a water pipe burst. Lancaster County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Ben Houchin says deputies and Waverly Fire and Rescue were called to the nursing home just before 6:00.
“And the water was shooting from the ceiling above the nurses’ station.” Houchin says the ceiling collapsed and there was at least an inch of water on the floor. Crews from several surrounding fire departments along with Waverly Schools assisted in transporting the residents to the Waverly Community Foundation building.
There were no injuries and Houchin says it’s unclear what the long-term plans are for the residents.
