Lincoln Police were called to Abelardo’s Mexican restaurant at 48th and Leighton Avenue just before 1:00 Wednesday morning to investigate a weapons violation.  “An employee called 911 to report a man was chasing a woman who was yelling at him to stop,” says Public Information Manager Erika Thomas.

“When two employees tried to intervene, the man told them to mind their own business and pulled out a knife.”  Thomas says officers contacted 41-year-old Christopher Bevard in a nearby parking lot and he matched the description given by the caller.

“He was detained and officers located a folding pocketknife with a 3–4-inch blade in his backpack.”  Bevard was arrested and taken to the Lancaster County Jail where he was booked for two counts of terroristic threats and possession of a deadly weapon by a prohibited person.
