Man Arrested After LPD Finds Stolen Catalytic Converter In Vehicle

A man with warrants in four different states if facing a long list of new charges after Lincoln Police say he cut a catalytic converter from a vehicle on the lot of Cornhusker Heating and Air near 29th and Cornhusker.

Officer Erin Spilker says On July 4th around 7pm officers were called to Cornhusker Heating and Air on a suspicious person seen under vehicles in the lot.  As officers were arriving, the caller provided an update that the man had gotten into a silver Pontiac Grand Prix and drove behind the grain bins.

An officer saw the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop.  Officers contacted the driver who provided a false identity and had a reciprocating saw blade on the driver’s seat.  The officer also observed a bag in the back seat of the vehicle with several reciprocating saws inside it.

A probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted, and officers found a newly cut catalytic converter and a glass pipe with methamphetamine residue.  Officers were able to determine the man’s identity, 36-year-old Sean Martinson, after finding paperwork inside the vehicle.  They determined that Martinson had active warrants in four different states.

Officers spoke with the owner of Cornhusker Heating and Air and they located a new truck on the property with fresh saw blade marks.  Officers also found the vehicle Martinson was driving had stolen license plates as well as another stolen license plate inside the vehicle.

Martinson was also found to have a suspended driver’s license.  He was arrested for felony Criminal Impersonation, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Burglar’s Tools, three counts of misdemeanor Theft, Criminal Mischief, Criminal Trespassing, and Driving during Suspension.
