It was a close call for a 23 year old woman on July 4th after bullets flew in a Lincoln neighborhood. Around 10pm police responded to a house near 29th and Randolph Street on a report of gunshots.
When officers arrived they contacted three men and two women who said they initially thought fireworks had gone off inside their home. “They hear this loud thing go off and they think it’s fireworks,” says Officer Erin Spilker. “Then some crumbles from the wall fell down and she looks up and realized the bullet just went right above her head.”
Officers were able to locate several other bullet holes in the residence. Spilker believes the gunshots came from the alley that runs behind the house. The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is encouraged to call Lincoln Police at 402-441-6000 or Crime Stoppers at 402-441-6000.
