Lancaster County voters have until 6 p.m. Friday, May 1, to register to vote or request an early ballot for the May 12 statewide primary election, according to the Lancaster County Election Commission.

Election Commissioner Todd Wiltgen said voters must now register in person at the Election Commission office, as online and mail-in deadlines have already passed.

The same 6 p.m. Friday deadline applies for requesting a ballot by mail. Requests must be submitted in writing and include identification information, such as a Nebraska driver’s license number, state ID or other valid photo identification.

An early voter request form is available on the Election Commissioner’s website at: lancaster.ne.gov/election.

Completed early ballot requests can be dropped off at the Election Commission office or designated library locations, or submitted electronically by email.

For more information about Nebraska Voter ID requirements, visit voterID.nebraska.gov. A scanned copy or a readable photo of the completed request may also be emailed to the Election Commission at: earlyvote@lancaster.ne.gov.

The Election Commission office will offer extended hours from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday to accommodate voters.

Early in-person voting begins Monday, May 4, and runs through May 11.
