In conjunction with America’s 250th Anniversary, the largest American Flag will be unfurled in Lincoln on May 24. Bill Williams with Patriotic Productions says the ceremony will be held that night outside the Sandhills Global Event Center.
“It’s 250 by 505 feet, weights 3,000 pounds and requires a minimum of 650 people to unfurl and raise it.” Williams says they are looking for volunteers to grab a piece of the fabric. “So we encourage folks to come out, city groups, church groups, employees.”
Williams says they need about 500 volunteers to show up at 6:00 p.m. for a training session. The evening will also feature a drone show with 400 red, white and blue lights and the signing of the the National Anthem and God Bless America by Dr. Elizabeth Peters.
After the ceremony there will be pictures from the drone and video of the unfurling. Anyone interested in taking part in the flag ceremony can click here for more details.
