The 15th annual Give to Lincoln Day is set for Thursday and residents across Lancaster County are encouraged to show their support. “It is a time where everyone in our community really comes together to support local non profits and the causes that people care about,” says Jenny Chapin, Vice President of Marketing and Communications for the Lincoln Community Foundation.
If you would like to support any of the registered non-profits click here. Chapin says every donation made during Give to Lincoln Day goes even further this year, thanks to a 650,000 challenge match fund provided by the foundation and community sponsors. Nonprofits receive a proportional share of the match based on the donations they collect.
Chapin says the event is designed to introduce new donors to local nonprofits, help organizations share their stories and highlight the impact charitable giving has across the community. The campaign also serves as an added fundraising opportunity for participating nonprofits throughout Lincoln and Lancaster County.
Chapin says if you don’t want to donate online you can do it in person on Thursday at the Give to Lincoln Day Nonprofit Festival at Tower Square. “Which will be at 13th and ‘P’ from 11:30 to 1:30 and we will have 70 non-profits having booths and activities and ways for people to interact with their missions.” There will also be live music at the event.
Chapin tells KLIN News the event has raised over $70 million since 2012. Last year the final total was $9.5 million and she’s hoping to surpass that mark this year. Hundreds of non-profits took part last year, serving areas like education, health care, housing, and the arts. Chapin says those funds are critical for organizations that rely on community support to operate year-round.
