Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol took 65 impaired drivers off the roads during the annual Make It Click campaign surrounding Memorial Day weekend. The effort ran from May 15 through June 1.

“The summer travel season is officially underway, and roadways will be busy across the state,” says Colonel Bryan Waugh, Superintendent of the Nebraska State Patrol. “While our troopers are constantly on patrol to keep Nebraska roads safe, teamwork is paramount with the motoring public as well. Always drive safe and drive sober.”

In addition to the 65 arrests for impaired driving, troopers also issued more than 1,600 speeding citations, including 47 for speeding at over 100 miles per hour.  There were also 80 citations issued for no seatbelts, 23 for improper child restraint and 53 for open alcohol container.

Troopers also ticketed 85 people for driving under suspension.  The Make It Click campaign is a nationwide effort involving numerous police agencies. Nebraska’s portion of this effort was made possible thanks in part to grant funding from the Nebraska Department of Transportation – Highway Safety Office.
