The University of Nebraska Board of Regents unanimously approved amended bylaws and articles of incorporation Monday, establishing a temporary governance structure for Nebraska Medicine.
Effective July 1 through September 30, the University of Nebraska and the Omaha Community Foundation will each have equal voting representation on Nebraska Medicine’s Board of Directors while permanent governance documents are finalized.
University President Dr. Jeffrey Gold said the partnership will help advance healthcare across Nebraska, while Omaha Community Foundation President and CEO Donna Kush said the organization looks forward to bringing its experience in philanthropy and community leadership to the state’s premier academic medical center.
The transition follows the planned withdrawal of Clarkson Regional Health Services as a governing member after announcing in 2024 it would step away from healthcare management. Regents said the new public-private partnership will help strengthen Nebraska Medicine’s mission of patient care, education, research, and service to communities across the state.
