By Tom Stanton Aug 13, 2026 | 6:00 AM

The community is invited to join current and former students and staff for Park Middle School’s 100th birthday celebration Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. near 8th and ‘G’ Streets. The celebration will include student-led tours of the building, games, food trucks and opportunities to reconnect with friends and alumni.

Lincoln historian Ed Zimmer will also give informational talks about the school’s history at 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. in the Multipurpose Room. The building was constructed in 1926 as an elementary school and was named for its location near Lincoln’s first city park.

Park was remodeled in 1992 and became a middle school. Organizers say Saturday’s celebration is a chance to honor the building’s 100-year history and the generations of students and staff who have called Park home.
