Lincoln Police say 24 people were arrested for driving under the influence as part of an impaired-driving enforcement project conducted throughout August. The effort was part of the national ‘Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over’ campaign.
LPD Public Information Manager Erika Thomas says officers worked overtime nights and weekends, when impaired driving is most prevalent. She says officers made 199 traffic stops, resulting in 207 citations and 92 warnings.
In addition to the two dozen DUI arrests, officers served eight warrants, cited 14 drivers for driving under suspension and made 10 narcotics arrests. Officers also issued 36 registration citations, 15 for speeding, nine insurance violations, seven traffic-signal violations and five for reckless-driving.
The campaign was funded through the Nebraska Department of Transportation Highway Safety Office.
