Lincoln Police are investigating a crash near 30th and South Street late Saturday morning that sent a 51-year-old woman to the hospital with minor injuries. Public Information Manager Erika Thomas tells KLIN News witnesses told officers they saw a Chevy Silverado traveling west on South Street at an estimated 30 to 35 miles per hour.
“That vehicle then left the road and collided with a crosswalk sign before cutting back across all lanes of traffic and into the the front lawn of an apartment building.” Thomas says the pickup then slammed into the northeast corner of the building, resulting in heavy damage. No one inside the apartment reported any injuries.
The pickup driver was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. According to an accident report, the woman told officers she had consumed alcohol the night before the crash. Thomas says LPD says a DUI investigation is ongoing. A citation is pending the results of a blood draw taken after the crash.
